First Lady Threads

We have such a fly First Lady, I think we can all agree upon that. I adore her style not because of the designer gear, but her practicality in her garment selection. She supports young talented designers as well as apparel houses like J.Crew. These two looks are Haute, the first one I love the shape & color. The second one designed by Zero/Maria Cornejo with a studded belt by Sacai. Keep up the good work Michelle. Ultra Fab.

Haute Pocketbook

Mr. McQueen is at it again; creating unusual designs that have you daydreaming on red carpet clouds envisioning ways of how to get your hands on one of these darlings. Alexander McQueen's ring clutch is made of gold-tone metal, Swarvoski crystals, and freshwater pearls. This clutch is most certainly haute, and I desperately need Steve Madden to make a knock off.

Change Your Diaper

This is part two of my Spring trends to watch. This one my fashionistas will knock your pants of-literally! I don't think I'll be rockin' this trend next year. I have a feeling that Lady GaGa had something to do with this hideous trend. Designers such as Alexander Wang, Marc Jacobs and Prada have reinvented the short shorts. Me no likey. Let us know your thoughts: Ultra Haute or Ultra Not??

Bondage In Spring

As we creep into fall; spring is awaiting and the jury is still out on the Bondage Accessory Trend. The runways were filled with chains, spikes. Colorful handbags with accents of rope, and beading. No need to worry about the dress as long as you have a chainsaw purse you'll be ready for spring.

RIP to a Retail Mastermind

Don Fisher, co-founder of the Gap has passed away on September 27, 2009 at the age of 81. Some of you may remember my August entry, Historic Hemlines celebrating the Gap stores 40 years in business. Don Fisher was a true retail trailblazer. (Above picture of Don Fisher and his wife Doris Fisher in 1969 in front of the original Gap store in San Francisco)

Haute Choo

Stop the press! Jimmy Choo for H&M coming this November. Soooo excited, the line will include handbags, shoes, jumpsuits, and a few menswear pieces. I'm an advocate of a splash of color in the fall/winter time, seems Choo kept it basic. Now all you fashionistas can channel your inner Sex In The City moment. Mr. Big take that!

Runway Report

Haute designer Matthew Williamson has caught my attention with his Spring 2010 ready to wear collection. He covered so many variables, color, texture, and shape. Williamson studied design in London and has worked under the Italian house of Emilio Pucci. He is definitely one to watch. Ultra fab.

Signature Scent

With today's technology, things like texting and emails are making old fashioned love letters a thing of the past. Yes, it takes a concentrated effort to put pen to paper, but let's not let this romantic form of composition die. Imagine sending your boo a letter filled with the scent of gardenia and jasmine, this can be a reality with the Michael Kors Hollywood signature pen. The fragrance oils are blended with the ink to create this unique writing instrument with a heavenly aroma. Also, ladies a distinct pen makes a statement just as strong as the handbag that you pull it out of. (Retails for $25 www.michaelkors.com)

Fall Must Have

Okay, so anyone that knows *Miz B-knows that I adore scarves! Most people forget how fabulous they can be with an outfit. As we creep into fall season, make sure you pick up a few scarves. They're so many to chose from, you have casual to evening, solids, prints, and fringe. Let's not forget how you can wrap a scarf 101 ways. More on that latah.
I found a few online at http://www.shopbop.com/ (really like this site). Shopbop can get a little pricey for the recessionista, so may I suggest good ole Gap, or a nice boutique to get a one of kind. Scarf-a-licious!

Haute Acid

The skinny jean trend doesn't seem to be going anywhere for fall, so why not reinvent them by picking up the Acid Wash Skinny. Pair them with some haute Uggs, or haute ankle booties. I found these on http://www.shopbop.com/ by Jet, for $187.00.

Haute Tip: Over the weekend I purchased some acid wash jeans at Forever 21 retailing at $19.99!

Playlist

Givenchy men's fragrance Play is an intense combination of citrus, black pepper, and patchouli. The bottle is made to resemble an MP3 player, and the campaign is appropriately fronted by Mr. Sexy Back himself, Justin Timberlake. I found the scent to be a bit sweeter than most men's cologne, but it's still a quite inviting scent. Available at www.macys.com

Trend Alert: Draping

Draping is haute for a couple of reasons. It's figure flattering, and it adds an element of drama to any entrance. Trends come and go, so it often makes sense to take the less expensive route to the current fad, but with draping you must be cautious. If the fabric is of a cheaper quality you will not have the weight and movement for a proper draping, matte jersey is ideal for this look. (Above top by Banana Republic $45; dress by Derek Lam)

Hemline Opulence

H&HS as promised is here to keep you informed of trends, both present and future. As the fall/winter season approaches we can now incorporate pieces with ornamentation into our wardrobe. Not just for the holidays, but for those fall evenings out on the town, think shimmery brocade skirts, embroidered vests, or glass stone embellished clutches. The key is not to be adorned from head to toe, but combine one standout piece with other simple articles of clothing. (Above sequined deco top $495; gold coin skirt $150 both available at www.jcrew.com)

Seductive Scent

Light, feminine, and sensual, that is Lola by Marc Jacobs. The soft powdery notes of this fragrance are just what I have been looking for; a scent subtle enough for day, yet alluring enough for night. Intoxicating layers of vanilla, fuchsia peony, and the bottle is purty too. www.bloomingdales.com

...Why Pay More?

Christian Siriano had tongues wagging at NYFW when he debuted his Payless spring 2010 line. Booties, pumps, and Mary Janes in various shades of blue and sand, all with a killer signature heel. I'm loving these shoes, they are giving me a haute attack. The only disappointment is that these darlings are sure to be toned down once they reach a Payless near you in order to appeal to a mass market. Can't wait to see the end results.
