Before the cell phone throwing Naomi Campbell there was Naomi Sims; a true runway pioneer. Sims recently passed away from cancer at the age of 61, however, she paved the way for many catwalk divas. Born in Oxford, Mississippi Sims later attended The Fashion Institute Of Technology & NY University. She graced the cover of Life Magazine in 1969, and later launched the Naomi Sims Hair Collection in 1976. Sims saw a void in the beauty industry as she would be on shoots & the stylist couldn't figure out what to do with her hair. Within 5 years her wig collection grossed sales of 5 million. She was also a part of the Black Is Beautiful renaissance during her time. Hemlines pays tribute to Naomi Sims-Ultra Classy.
